Zotac show us gear early - Display Port 9600GT etc

By: (more) | Posted: Jun 2, 2008 8:19 am

COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 While at the Nangang tradeshow hall we visit Zotac for a look at their new and shiny products. On offer this year we see a GeForce 9800GTX Zone Edition with water cooling as standard. Touting 22degC cooler running, silence and a shocking 5 year warranty which will go active in Australia from sometime next month. The price premium for this product will be $50 USD, so it is rather reasonable considering what you get.

Also on show is a GeForce 9600GT DP with Display Port as standard which is good timing as more monitor manufacturers are announcing this new display technology on their screens. The big noise about this is that we have been told display port works under Windows XP as well as Vista making it accessible to all.

Moving on to their motherboards, Zotac are keeping pace with all the rest in the market however they have decided to offer an ITX solution. That's right an ITX LGA775 solution with the nForce 610i with an onboard GeForce 7050 graphics chipset. Can take everything up to an including quad-core Intel 45nm Wolfdale processors, too.

Other manufacturers have poo poo'd the ITX format as a niche market, but Zotac say they are responding to consumer demands in Europe and want to support the higher end spectrum of ITX.
