Rumour has it AMD are considering ditching their idea of bringing dual-core K10 parts to market (codenamed Kuma).

Given the already very aggressive pricing on existing tri and quad core models, not to mention the limitations on clockspeeds from its current 65nm process, it would make sense as to why AMD would scrap Kuma and retry for entry level dual-core processors (codenamed Regor) in the 45nm family to show up next year.

Having to deal with a 65nm process that doesn't offer high enough clocks and an AMD offer that includes both tri- and quad-core CPUs, all priced under $250, the Kumas seem to be out of options and ready to disappear even before reaching the stores or even a press release. Things could change next year though as AMD is planning a full 45nm line-up which includes the quad-cored Deneb and Propus, tri-core Heka and dual-core Regor processors.
