Sony launches MP3 Player range with Washable Walkman W series

Perfect for sports and gym use, the new Walkman W series is water resistant, washable and boasts a unique wearable design so you can enjoy every workout tangle free

Sydney - 18 June 2010 - Sony Australia expands its MP3 Player range with the launch of the water resistant[1] and washable[2] Walkman W series and compact bass boosting Walkman B series.

Water Resistant Walkman W series

Just like its predecessor, the Walkman W series is suitable for use in active sports with the unique cordless design offering a comfortable fit and convenient music playback while exercising. With the addition of its water resistant and washable feature, users can enjoy listening to their favourite tracks while jogging in the rain or simply wash under running water following a sweaty workout.

With no traditional display, the Walkman W series is instead equipped with a unique music navigation interface for quick music browsing, known as ZAPPIN. When activated, the ZAPPIN function helps you find tunes with ease by playing a four or 15 second snippet of each track consecutively in the music library until you find your favourite song.

A Quick Charge feature has been incorporated, benefitting users on-the-go, by providing up to 90 minutes of music playback with just a three minute charge. A full charge of 90 minutes provides up to 11 hours of playback time[3].

Music transfers with the Walkman W series are simple and hassle free - the included Content Transfer software allows you to easily transfer your music files directly from Windows Explorer or iTunes® to the Walkman with its simple drag-and-drop interface.

The Walkman W series comes in four colours of white, black, pink and lime green and will be available in Australia from May 2010.

Booming bass from the compact Walkman B series

Incorporating a new metallic design, the Walkman B series offers advanced user performance within a stylish and compact form factor. Featuring a one touch Bass Enhancer with red power illuminator to boost bass performance on music tracks, the Walkman B series will dance to the beat through its illuminator LED lights. The ZAPPIN function has also been included for easy music playback and navigation.

The Walkman B series offers a wide variety of audio features, from MP3 music playback, to FM radio and voice and radio/FM recording. A Quick Charge feature lets users enjoy 90 minutes of music playback with just a 3 minute charge as well as boasting an extended battery life of up to 18 hours[4] with just 70 minutes of full charging. Transferring music directly to the Walkman is simple with direct USB connectivity and the ease of drag-and-drop from Windows Explorer or iTunes®.

The Walkman B series comes in four colours of black, red, pink and blue and will be available in Australia from June 2010.
