Lethal Weapon

Rocking up on my doorstep recently is the shiny new GIGABYTE Professional Gaming Keyboard, enumerated the GK-K8000. This is GB's new top of the line industrial strength keyboard aimed at the pro gaming community.

Without even taking it out of the box, you can tell this is a different class of keyboard all together. It weighs a ton; well, feels like it! - If you ever get your ass kicked at a LAN party, just start swinging this baby whilst screaming "BOOM! HEADSHOT!". It's a lethal weapon, really.

But on to the un-boxing we go. After removing the outer shroud of packaging we are met by a row of orange keys peeking at us through a cut-out in the cardboard. I love it when companies do stuff like this; it just teases you even more as to what's inside and gives the whole experience a much more anticipated feeling to it. It's a bit like if Christmas presents had windows in them and you couldn't quite see what you were going to get, but you were left guessing for weeks!

With all the fervour of a 4 year old, I flung the packaging open, my eyes wide with glee! What you see in this picture is a carefully re-assembled layout of all the bits in the box. These include replacement keys and a key-puller-thing, heavy duty industrial thickness braided USB cable, driver disk, clip-in wrist rest and a nifty carry bag with pockets for cables. It looks like GB is serious about you taking this board on the road!

The key-puller-thingy allows you to pull up the original black keys on board and replace any of the A to Z keys with a grey coloured equivalent. This is with the exclusion of the WASD keys which are highlighted in the same vibrant orange colour as the special G keys.
