Introduction

Gigabyte has become one of the biggest motherboard manufacturers in Taiwan. Starting out in the OEM sectors, Gigabyte has slowly pushed forward with their goals of becoming a name in high end and overclockers books.

So far we have seen some very good motherboards come from Gigabyte, and like many, we have seen that really should have been looked at more than once and taken back to the drawing boards. One thing that has impressed us here at TweakTown is the versatility of Gigabyte, their willingness to try most of, if not all of the chipsets for each platform. We have seen SiS, Intel and VIA chipset solutions come from the Taiwan plant for Intel and AMD CPU's, Gigabyte has really opened its doors to all possibilities.

With the advent of auto-overclocking and system optimization technologies which were first introduced to us by MSI, Gigabyte has now started to push a new line of motherboards known as the "GT" series.

Today we look at our first motherboard in the GT series, the 8IEP1000 Pro 2. How well does this new technology fair? Let's find out.
